I received my Sonic Boom by Acid Fuzz pedal this afternoon - I have the germanium version. Looking forward to trying it out over the weekend.
You knew Rob C. would never let you down.
Sorry to bump an old thread but I just wanted to confirm what "the fourth way" said -- I never doubted Rob's word. I paid for the pedal at APF 2012 and actually had the silicon version in a box ready to leave with me but after talking with Rob, I agreed to leave the silicon version with the band so that it could be displayed at a few more stops. Rob emailed me a couple times, including once while he was in AUS and also after a somewhat comical misaddressed email to Rob from me. The crew at Acid Fuzz kept me informed as to production timelines and shipping. Now I have the germanium version at home, just as Rob promised.
The pedal is fun and sounds very authentic. It took me a bit of tweaking at first because the fuzz and boost levels need to be turned up higher than I'm accustomed to with most of my other fuzzes. Plus there's a lot of combinations to try -- it is a very flexible pedal. I also have to say that this pedal, at least to my ears, has transformed the band's live sound somewhat and in my opinion that is a very good thing. Now I say that as someone who has seen a lot of their shows and after hearing two outings on this year's tour I can hear a difference in the live sound versus previous tours. I also have to caution that I don't know the extent to which this pedal is used live so maybe I'm totally wrong about the pedal, but there is a difference in the live sound. I'm sure there's a few factors in play but I did see the Acid Fuzz on stage.
I have had to set the pedal aside for a bit because I have taken on an extra project at work (and I should be working on it right now) but when that project is done I'll be back to the pedal and other assorted musical toys.
All-in-all a very good pedal from Acid Fuzz and I'm planning on picking up the silicon version when it comes out in printed circuit form. Thank you
Acid Fuzz -- please keep making these things because I want to buy the silicon version!!!
