So what a night... Ambled in while koolaid were sound checking, 30 minutes later they played a great 30 minute ish set, more shoegazzy but really enjoyed it, wish they would come up north a bit more.
Hookworms I've seen a few times they do pound out a rhythm and as a local band are always going to have a following. Which is rightly so. They have a few records penned in I believe so worth looking out for when they come out.
Dead skeletons now this was something... From the moment the band fired up and Jon did his signature skull canvas I was hooked. They were pretty heavy but always hypnotic time just flew by. If you can see them then I strongly recommend catching them.
Might have a few videos and if I work out how to upload will post them for you.
Have to agree with Scarborough, a worthy night out and really glad Koolaid and the Dead Skeletons made it to Leeds. Koolaid seemed to have a lot of new subtleties going on and played really well. Agreed they should come up north more! Dead Skeletons, I saw in Liverpool the night before too and have to say I found them stunning both times. Hypnotic is indeed the word. If I could get to another gig on this tour I happily would. Jon is of course a compelling front man, but the band really have a kind of tribal connection and everything just blended perfectly live. Definitely do not miss them if you can catch them. I have one or two photos, will try and sort them out. Struggling with a back up PC at the mo. Scarborough I'd love to see those videos!
Damn..only found out Dead skeletons were playing london a few days ago..was too late to get organised..seen koolaid a couple of times..one good and one not so good (no fault of the band for latter)..like Hookworms would be interesting to see 'em live..

First two tracks by Dead Skeletons - once you get past the first few seconds it settles down, does distort a bit but not too badly. Im not one for viewing through the screen so just aim in the general direction and take how it comes....
Its does however capture the vibe and presence they have and show the tribel hynotic nature of their set.

Thought it was an amazing night, hypnotic, groovy and mesmerizing. Great venue, the support was excellent, saw Hookworms support White Hills a few months back. I'm hoping Dead Skeletons is going to be a long term venture and not just a brief(ish) venture. One of the best gigs I've been to in ages. Of course there had to be a couple stood right at the front who spent a large proportion of DS's set talking to one another. Very annoying.
