An evening with Steve Kilbey from The Church
Up Close and personal, in a unique acoustic performance with
Ricky Maymi from The Brian Jonestown Massacre ( USA ).
Performing songs from their upcoming album "David Neil" to be released next year as well as classics by The Church, Jack Frost (Steve Kilbey & Grant McLennan of The Go-Betweens) and some of Steve's solo albums

What a line-up. I missed the Church when they came to LA. How would it come about that these two play together? Anybody know the backgroud/details there?
I'll be looking forward to a post about how the show was next week...

nice one! sounds like the shows were great ricky.
do you two have any shows booked for the rest of the calendar year? and is there any more you can tell us about this david neil project? really dig both you and SK's work so im sure the album will be stunning.

Hey there! YES! The shows where fabulous! There won't be anymore shows until early 2010 "David Neil" is a Canadian guy from the 70's who died in a plane crash. he was in the airplane lavatory overdosing on heroin when a jealous lover broke into the lavatory and gunned David down as he OD'd and the plane crashed. So, the coroner could not decide the actual cause of death. The Heroin, The Bullets or the actual crash. SK and I came into possession of David's tapes (a cross between David Bowie and Neil Young) and we decided to to do some of his songs and make an album to be called "The Wilderness Years"

Whoa, what an incredible (sad) set of circumstances: Od'ing in the head of an airplane (intentional?) ex-lover with a gun and plane crashing - all simultaneous...
Is The Wilderness Years available digitally or otherwise?
