They never seem to get a mention on here. Such an underrated brilliant band.

Hey Gillert. The songs EMPTY, Bookshop Casanova, I Had To Say This and From a Window have found a home on my iPod.

I love the Clientele (thanks to a certain other forum member making me listen to them properly). I especially admire Alasdair's playing. My favourite song of theirs is "Lamplight" but I can't find a clip of it.

They are playing on a fine bill on the 19th of next month at the Luminaire (in London) - The Clientele, The Louche (featuring some ex-People's Revolutionary Choir members) and The Left Outsides. Should be a lovely night.

Hey Gia. I guess you're going to the gig this month. Put up a post about the show and, if possible, head's up on possible west-coast US shows.

I like this.
The Crimea sound a bit like these, especially vocal wise.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LTarguy3yo

It's Davey Macmanus's new(ish) , he used to be a a band called The Crocketts back in the 90's.

The Clientele are brilliant. They have a really nice sound. I've not got round to listening to their new album yet, but will defo check it out ASAP as it's had some really good reviews.

Check out Real Estate if you like The Clientele. Their debut came out recently and is one of my favs this year. They have a similar dreamy sound to them:

Oops, only just saw this. It was a lovely show (as always). Fabulous "Lamplight". Alasdair now has a Rickenbacker 330 and his onstage banter wasn't as grouchy as usual. I bought a copy of the new album at the show but then lost it somewhere on the way home.

Apparently, we won't have any more shows in London til April. But, as you probably know already, Californians have better luck. From their MySpace...

Great! Thanks Gia. Looks like two shows at Club Spaceland. Thanks for the post and heads-up.

I've never been that big of a fan of the Clientele before.

It all sounds like mediocre dream-pop shit to me.

Countless other bands have this exact same sound.

Too many of these new "3rd wave" bands sound exactly alike...

But ehh, whatever floats your boat I guess...

You're entitled to your opinion of the music but can I correct the use of the word new?
Suburban Light was released in about 2000?

Waste of a post Gia.

Mannequin resigned from the board in spectacular fashion....

Ah, I see (I haven't really been following the forum lately, as you know). Nobody ever seems to quit the forum permanently though.

At least it saves an argument about whether you can criticise a band for lots of later bands having a similar sound.
