What a trip! I must have been half asleep the first time I read the subject line: Bhang Lassi Stains On My Kaftan. Anyway, a long time ago I was travelling in India and took a drug, mixed in liquid, called Bhang Lassi! The spelling, and, hence, the meaning of the words, may have been different - don't remember. I can say that I was on my back, staring at lizards on the walls and ceiling for many hours before I could do much else!!

I'll definitely listen to the mix now. Anybody have any comments on the drug Bhang Lassi? Anybody know what Kaftan is?

LOL!

I've done the same thing in India too...

For those that don't know a Bhang Lassi is a yoghurt based drink with juice of cannabis. It'll tend to make you very high!

A Kaftan, de rigeur hippy wear...

Hey Cutmanifesto. Great call! Thanks for the reminder and that cool photo. Brings back great memories. I also have a kaftan, brought back from India. I'm going to get it out and dust it off. I hate to admit it, but I was in India in 1974. I actually travelled there overland from Europe, where I lived at the time - so that means through Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. I had Bhang Lassi in Agra where I was staying in the Hotel Jaggi. I was friends with an Indian guy named Kamul Jaggi. His father owned the small hotel. I met Kamul in A'dam where I was a regular customer for his hashish. Wow! Those were the days.

Great time, lots of stories from "a life gone by".

BTW, how did you come across the music mix shown in your first message?

Sounds like a great trip. I've been fortunate to travel India extensively and love the place. I once stayed in a backpackers in Nepal for 50p a night and was surprised to find outside my bungalow there was marijuana growing wild, fucking result! I stayed for a few more nights than I'd intended to.

The mix is something I put together for my own listening. I saw that Blood posted a mix and thought I'd share it. I am a child of the C90 cassette mix generation!

Yo Cutmanifesto. Nepal was a big destination when I was in India too. But the big buzz was slightly west of there in Cashmiere, a place called lake Dahl. One could rent a large house-boat for a few $$ per day. Total partying, music and, in those days, soft drugs like pot and hash. My original plan was to travel overland to India, from Switzerland where I lived, and then turn around and go back the same way. After arriving in Inida and realizing how far that was to go back, I decided to change plans. The highlight of my trip ended up being that I decided not to go back the same way, overland, but to continue on around the globe, stop off in LA to see the parents and friends and continue east back to Switzerland. I ended up flying, on the first leg the rest of the way around the globe, from New Dehli to Bangkok! I freaked out - in a great way and have been going to Thailand ever since!!! One could get real Thai-sticks in those days. And one night (well many) in Bangkok...Need I say more?

Say, I have a question about the link you posted: http://www.sendspace.com/file/fcihw1

I am probably ignorant and impatient, so I'm sure I missed something. I went to the site to download the mix and seemed to be prompted for various memberships. Is that correct? I sure don't mean to imply that I want/expect the music for free. I'm just confused with other comments above that seem to indicate others downloaded the music.

Click on the "Regular Download" button then on the next page click on the big orange button at the bottom of the page.

No need to sign up for anything.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Cutmanifesto. As I said I would, I got out my Kaftan from India and was horrified to find out it was too small for me...Duhh. Shocked to notice that I have grown a bit in 25 years! Oh well.
