It's a fucking revelation. Yeah, Phone Song is rad. Also, very lush is Chameleons with its references to Cure's All Cats Are Grey and Chills' Pink Frost. Magnifico. This will be in my ears for the rest of the day! Can't find one cut I don't like.
first time i heard "chameleons" was on this cool little podcast. still stuck on trying to remember the song right before it, which i know i've heard before. i'm not as good with all the music as i used to be -- i'm going to say it's because of information overload.

I didnt even know Record Day had "champions". To this day I still am not sure about the concept (is it cool ? is it marketing ? is it cool marketing ?) but I also don't really have record stores around me participating so the whole thing tend to pass me by without me thinking about it. Anyway, my original point was, I don't know what kind of "champions" they had in the past, but someone like Anton seems more than decently appropriate. His musical open mindedness (along with Joe Strummer's) is the reason as why I get excited about such things as turkish funk or brazilian disco.
Well, in any case I guess I'm gonna stick to my Pol Pot's tape from Burger Records, the album somehow seems more fitting on that format to me. Thanks for relaying the info anyway Gia !
Yeah, can you believe that here in Reykjavik, 12 Tonar where Einar from Singapore Sling works at didnt have a deal with Fuzz Club until now ? They re just finally getting in their store LPs from Singapore Sling or Dead Skeletons.
Didnt hear about Ryan being in town, but Will Carruthers was around recently, did a DJ set (I missed it, didn't know about it at the time) and a reading from his new book. The hand made version of it is a ridiculously beautiful object, even if way too expensive for me wallet. Got a print from him, though, neatly psychedelic !
Aufheben has been released on tape ? never heard of that !
How ironic, there actually are copies of this LP in several record stores around here, where I never EVER saw any BJM album on sale. The guy at the record store told me "yeah, I m surprised it s still around, I thought it would go right away"...
Now I'm almost considering getting myself a copy ahah. You know, because of the collector value or something...
