How cool to simply "pop over" to A-dam! Wish I could say something like that from LA. :-(

One of the best things about the UK for me is how easy it is to get away from it!

Hey S17. I just read something on Facebook, a Kickstarter project update, that indicated things will start moving forward with mailing cd later this month. Hard to get things done in the middle of a Euro tour.

Yeah, I got that email, too....I wonder if they're reading this thread?!?
Heh. Hi guys!!

Since I was bellyachin' about this...

yes sirago17..mine arrived on sat..fantastic..does exactly what it says on the tin..still pissed they didn't play london..no disrespect to bands supported..SPINDRIFT should be headlining gigs..one supposes money issues are a problem for touring..love their sound and use of instruments..

Well, it looks like there'll be a US tour in July. Once again... I will be in the wrong continent for most of it :-(

Stuff on the internet so far: If anyone spots any more, please post...

June 30th - Los Angeles, Dark Horse Saloon
...
July 16th - Newark DE, Mojo on Main
(This is the place that serves deep friend Twinkies and Oreos. I'm not sure my arteries recovered from last time)
...
July 20th - Philadelphia, North Star Bar
...
July 23rd - Boston, Church

jsbx - I was at that show and it was a LOT of fun. There is some bad English tambourine playing out of shot on the far right...

thanks for the info Gia. I was hoping that there would be a US tour, sooner, rather than later. Now if they can make their way down North Carolina, all will be good.....

I thought they were excellent in London. I’m definitely going to be catching them somewhere else soon. Maybe even on this upcoming tour as I think I’m US bound.

Sorry to post this, but those July dates aren't happening. Shybox, I think you're out of luck until the Fall.

But they've announced a Record Release party in LA, with showings of the associated film clips, at El Cid on July 27. I will be in the right continent for that one :-)

Last night's show was great - the longest set I've seen them play by miles (about an hour and a half!), including a couple of covers - The Gunfighter, Hollywood Babylon, Death Rides a Horse. There was a showing of the film clip for Hellbound and general shenanigans. KP roamed the audience during Hollywood Babylon, letting pretty much anyone sing along with him. Death Rides a Horse ended with about 10 minutes of noise, with James drumming on KP's guitar.

I almost got hit by a falling mike stand during Indian Run. That would have been an embarrassing way to die.

Okay, so the record release show is now at the Echoplex on Sept 8th, with Icarus Line and The Country in support.

I was clearing stuff off my iPod today and came across two Spindrift related videos which aren't great but are both songs they don't play that often, so I thought they might be interesting.

Firstly, Boy Scout Jamboree at the Debacle Magazine launch party last March. They looked more like Spindrift than usual that night. (Incidentally, I saw Boy Scout Jamboree last Tuesday and they had Nate Ryan standing in for Luke, which meant there was a banjo in the house).

Secondly, a VERY poor video of a fine performance of Ennio Morricone's "Da Uomo A Uomo" (Death Rides A Horse). The ipod was a bit overwhelmed by the volume and it was so dark I couldn't actually tell what I was pointing at (and I had to keep moving to avoid the dancers). But the music kicks arse, obviously.

Still, if you think that's bad, you should see the clip of their cover of the Misfits' "Hollywood Babylon" I did that night - all I can say is I was laughing way too hard to be filming anything (KP was jumping around in the audience right in front of me, which made it difficult to keep a straight face), and the guy next to me was singing along more loudly than anything else that was going on...

Just a quick note - if you are going to any Spindrift shows in the near future, there's some advance copies of a new record on their merch stand.

"Cowboy Songs & Campfire Ballads: Songs Born Of the West".

Mostly covers but two originals. If you saw the Spindrift acoustic show last January, or if you've seen Boy Scout Jamboree on one of their better days, you'll know what to expect.

Thought I'd mention...

Saw the movie "Dust Up" yesterday. Thought I'd mention it on here because the score is by Kirpatrick Thomas, with Spindrift and Gram Rabbit songs in the soundtrack. Despite all that ;-) it's a fun film if you like strange characters stuck in the desert punching the crap out of other people and it has the most disgusting murder movie scene I've encountered. (I saw it at a comic convention and there were some children in the audience. I wonder if there were some strange conversations going on in LA yesterday evening). There's some plumbing too. Um.

Amber Benson from Buffy is in it - I had no idea who she was but someone I know came along to the screening based purely on that information.

Anyway, there's a showing in LA on the 28th, another in Joshua Tree with Spindrift and Gram Rabbit on the 6th Oct and a fundraising campaign.

Where in Joshua Tree? Nothing listed for Pappy and Harriet's. Enjoyed seeing the "premiere" of Legend of God's Gun in the parking lot there (though I froze my tush off).
