My idea of punk.

Nirvana
Minutemen
Iggy & The Stooges
The Ramones
The Sex Pistols
The Clash
Black Flag

The Brian Jonestown Massacre? I usually just think of that as great art although the new album is supposedly punk sounding? Don't know for sure.

People with a conscience who rebel, not just people who rebel.

I don't know. Punk is a lot like rock and roll. Sometimes punk gets like religion in that people argue over different names for the same thing. It's a trap that makes people live ridiculously difficult lives sometimes. I am most appreciative of people who do punk really well because it's fucking hard.

Real punk is real art and expression, an attitude and lifestyle. And of course punk rock is Kurt Cobain's freedom.

Dead Kennedys
Discharge (Hear Nothing is the 80s punk masterpiece)

The Sex Pistols

but mostly punk is best when following the word "proto"

The Seeds
The Stooges
The Standells
The 13th Floor Elevators

and occassionally those bands from the punk era who were musically more on a rock n roll tip:

The Ramones
Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers

I would give honourable mention to Bad Religion, DOA, Misfits. Also a couple good Canadian Punk bands. SNFU, and Teenage Head.

I loved Repo Man. Kick ass soundtrack, great flick!!!

thanks for the upload.

btw I did not grow up here and I started listening to this kind of music very late in life. I know I have missed out on a lot so I am just catching up. my choices are dependent on who I play the most on my stereo.
