how's dh lawrence treating you, velvet? he puts me to sleep faster than shitty weed.

It's been a struggle but I'm persevering. I heard Sons and Lovers was one of Buk's all time favourites - that's what made me pick it up. Promising, but I'm going to have to work at it.

While we're at it, charass, was it you that recommended The Dumas Club to me? If so, many thanks. Read it a while back and thoroughly enjoyed it.

yessir, it was me. i'm glad you liked it. perez-reverte is one of my all time faves.

lawrence is like virginia woolf to me. either you love the prose or just find the subject matter boring. i'm obviously of the latter camp. not knocking his writing, but just not my cup of tea.

right now reading this (inspired by blood's post about pop 1280). gripping and a quick read.

The Fallen gives a good insight in relation to what it was like to be in The Fall & in the latter he comes across as a bit of a moaning old git but is very fucking funny & a smart cookie too......that's for sure - take no prisoners !!!!!

Intersting to read about Tim & Rob from Darker My Love too - in both books - "the dudes" LMAO !!!!!!

Can't wait to see both bands on the 17th @ KOKO !!!!!!!!

Yeah man it's great! Quite fucked up though. There's something about Kafka's writing style that I find incredibly sinister though. Like it all seems so disjointed, if that makes any sense. I quite often think about what it would be like to meet him, I mean imagine having a cup of tea and talking about football with THAT guy.

Thats the only one of his that I've read, to be honest. But, yeah, meeting him woulda been awsome!! Might swap the cup of tea for a large G and T though!

Cheers, I will do, Pamparius. I'll borrow it from the library where I work!

And which one did you end up in?

I work in a library and spend all my wages in bars
