I think that was the most accomplished of the Melville films I've seen. I couldn't face watching it again though - probably care about the characters too much!

I see there's a difference of opinion on District 9. I admit that, if it had been made as a big budget star-driven movie, it would have been terrible, so I guess there are faults. But hey, I enjoyed it.

watching the first few minutes i was expecting something like army of darkness, which would've been fine. but besides a few (more or less voluntary) hilarious moments i thought it was rather boring. the only point this film had was to build up expectations for a sequel... and the apartheid comparison is pretty shameless.
agree on the melville though, great but painful film. by the way, i just noticed johnnie to is apparently doing a remake of the red circle, how about that?

Apologies for the massive image, but I saw the All Tomorrow's Parties movie about the festiva lat the weekend at the Warp20 do in Sheffield. It was played after dark in the middle of the block of flats above, they are now grade II listed and totally empty, quite an experience

Shame there was no Jonestown in the ATP video though

Saw the first episode. Been getting pretty shitty reviews but I think it showed real promise. Maybe a bit too dry for some. Good character driven comedy.

What did you think? I saw it when it came to a film festival here in NZ and thought it was great!
Gave a really good impression of the festival I thought

I watched the first season of Dexter - fun show. I liked the main character when he was in six feet under, too.
