Hello all,
i´m now here for a year or so and i muas say this is a total cool forum with the best music tipps a´ve listened so far.
now my question: i do have a band, and i want want to make music like bjm, or secret colours or magic castles.
its the sound i like they do. but what special gear do i need for this "wall of sound"?
we already have: bass (of course), semiacoustic e-guitars, twelve string semi acoustic e-guitar, single coil guitars, acoustic guitars, raagini tenpura, roland space echo pedals, tc helicon voice effect (with much reverb of course), tambourine and of course amps an a PA.
but its still not that sound! is it the drums? should the drum have an effect also?
we have the hammond b3 but didn´t still use it for rehearsals cause its so hard to transport.
do you any basic tipps for me for getting the psychedelic (drone like) sound.
i woukd be so happy if you could help me.
thx, greetings from austria
j.

Are you using Fender Twin Reverbs for the guitars amps? If you ask me, these are an essential ingredient in what you are going for.

More than anything, its all in the playing. You might be overthinking it.

got ma twin now, and i must say its a pretty new experience. sounds so special and close to the sound i want that i´ve never been before. got the boss sd-1 pedal too for light distortion and i´´s so happy i cannot explain.
now its time for practice to learn the special technique anton does.
i guess anton is playing the vibrato channell isnt´t he. also i turn the master full up and turn the volume knob at 3 or 4, the switch beside on "bright".

Interesting about the MV -- your Twin must not be the 65 Reissue or a vintage Blackface. Anyway, maxing the MV and using the channel volume is the way to go in that situation.

Regarding which channel Anton uses, that has been up for some debate on this forum. I'm pretty certain I saw him adjusting the Vibrato channel the three times I saw the band this past tour.

Regarding Anton's playing style, I describe it a percussive because he often fits in prominent strums of dead/muted strings within the strumming pattern for a song. Nevertheless is a good example. He often strums the fretted chords with authority too.
